After graduating with a First Class Honours in Law, Malcolm undertook his training contract at a national law firm.

He subsequently joined the Commercial Property team at Close Thornton in the summer of 2002, where he was later appointed a Partner in April 2009. Malcolm left Close Thornton in December 2013 to spend time with his young children before returning in May 2015 to take up the position of Practice Manager, where he has remained ever since.

Outside of work, Malcolm is a Sunderland AFC season ticket holder with his son and spends most of his remaining spare time taking his children to football training and matches.
