Julian was instrumental in Milners breaking new ground in June 2019, when we launched a specialist service covering all aspects of regulatory compliance and criminal law.

He brings with him more than 20 years’ expertise in this area of law. It is seeing growing demand from employers both large and small, amid tougher regulatory frameworks confronting a range of sectors - from construction to chemicals; manufacturing to transport; farming to retail.

Julian offers expert advice if you or your business is facing an investigation or prosecution for any alleged breach of your legal duties and obligations – and with it a potential criminal record if the court finds against you.

His experience covers the regulatory frameworks for all areas of the working world, with a special interest in health and safety law; trading standards law; environmental law; and commercial fishing and fisheries law.

Julian’s defence expertise also extends to criminal law cases involving individuals, where he has represented clients at a range of high-profile cases at both crown and magistrates court, including murder; rape; and conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

A graduate of the College of Law in York after undertaking a law conversion course, his initial degree was in Applied and Human Biology, followed by a masters degree in Shellfish Biology, Fisheries and Culture.
