Recent Reported & Important Cases

 

Infected Blood Inquiry (2018-Present)

 

Acting for a group of people with bleeding disorders and their families in connection with their infection with HIV and Hepatitis viruses through the use of contaminated blood products, throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The Inquiry commenced in 2018 and is due to report in 2023 with the Government already having agreed to pay interim compensation payments to many of our clients.

 

Brook House Inquiry (2021-Present)

 

Acting for two individuals employed at Brook House, an immigration removal centre based near Gatwick Airport which was the subject of a Panorama documentary highlighting the conditions under which the Home Office were detaining people.

 

Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) (2016-2022)

 

Acting for an institutional core participant to the Inquiry. This involved mastering a huge number of documents spanning half a century as well as preparing witness evidence, dealing with press issues and liaising with external, statutory agency partners. Click here to read more

 

The Trustees of the Ampleforth Abbey Trust v Turner & Townsend Project Management Limited [2012] EWHC 2137 (TCC)

 

Acting for the Trust with Milners’ Senior Partner, Giles Ward, this was a large Construction and Professional Negligence claim which centred on a Project Manager’s liability for failing to procure a construction contract signed by the Contractor. Issues of unfair contract terms were also relevant to the dispute.
